Isaiah Lopez

Isaiah is a BCIT alumni who is currently working as a freelance video editor, director, and general videographer. After developing an everlasting love for the world of cinema at an early age he had decided he would pursue a career in video and film. Entering secondary school at Hugh Boyd Secondary he would first develop and apply new skills in video through many school projects. Isaiah would also take part in video competitions such as the Skills Canada Video Competition and won the first ERASE Bullying video competition for the School District 38 in 2017 in which he earned a certificate for. His winning video was also broadcasted throughout all the schools in Richmond to promote anti bullying day. After graduating Secondary school Isaiah desired to further develop his skills to be at a professional level and would go on to study Television and Video production at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

 

At BCIT Isaiah would have extensive training in various fields of producing television and videos which included on-set production, live event coverage, and post-production. Within each field he got to explore new roles and skill sets such as being director for a commercial and news segment, producer for a PSA, and camera operator for a live hockey show at Delta. Although having previous knowledge of video editing he was taught more efficient ways of editing as well as better editing techniques and different styles including multi-cam editing and editing for a film. He was trained to edit using software such as Premiere Pro and Avid media Composer. With all of these various roles he had learned to work under extreme pressure, be adaptive, and all within a big team. After successfully completing a four week practicum working as a video editor for the company, Tetra Films, Isaiah graduated from BCIT in June 2019.

 

Since graduating he has continued to work for Tetra Films as a freelance video editor and has worked on other various freelance projects such as  non-profit videos for fundraisers, corporate videos, and short films. He also has worked as a Junior Video Producer for the company Checkpoint One Apparel. He has also recently set foot into the Visual Effects industry working both as a VFX Production Assistant and Production Coordinator. Isaiah strives to continuously grow his career so that it may evolve into a full career in film making.
